David Pishko was born in Niagara Falls, New York. He attended Duke University, where he graduated cum laude in 1972. He then served in the United States Army, and returned to Duke Law School, graduating with distinction in 1977. While in law school, David served as an Article Editor of the Duke Law Journal.
Since 1978, David has represented individuals who are confronted with a significant personal or financial crisis. He practices primarily in the areas of professional malpractice, nursing home neglect, and business litigation. He has successfully represented clients in negligence claims against health care providers, lawyers and financial advisors. He has also handled complex business cases involving breach of contract, interference with business relations and unfair trade practices. He has also handled post-conviction proceedings for death row inmates and others who have been wrongfully convicted of crimes.
David served as President of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice, the State’s trial lawyer organization in 2009-2010. He has published numerous articles on civil litigation topics and is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education seminars. He has also served as an adjunct lecturer at Wake Forest Law School, where he taught PreTrial Procedure for more than 20 years. In 1998, David took a six month sabbatical from his law practice and was a visiting law lecturer at University College Cork in Ireland.
David is a Master of the Joseph Branch Inn of Court, a group comprised of experienced lawyers, judges, law professors and students, which promotes professionalism in trial practice. David has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America since 2003.
David is married and has two daughters. He is an avid runner, and has completed five marathons. He also enjoys golf, sailing and watching college basketball.
